DuPont Teijin Films Supports Food Safety Week

W/C 16th June is Food Safety week, and this year the focus from the FSA is on reducing the number of cases of food poisoning caused by Campylobacter.

Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK, and is considered to be responsible for about 460,000 cases of food poisoning, 22,000 hospitalisations and 110 deaths each year, with a significant proportion of these cases coming from poultry.  The use of packaging to reduce the handling of raw protein is just one of the many approaches identified to reduce the number of instances of food poisoning, and DuPont Teijin Films have developed an innovative range of ovenable packaging films which can be used in conjunction with practically any protein and in any packing process.  Cooking in Mylar® not only delivers the convenience of "No touch" cooking, but also contributes to the fight against Campylobacter by removing the need to touch raw poultry both in the home and institutional cooking.
