DuPont Teijin Films looks forward to advancing developments for Flexible Electronic markets

DTF are part of a 3 year project bringing together commercial and research partners to tackle issues in organic electronics. The project was officially launched earlier this year. The consortium consists of around 15 companies whose project goal is to develop new technologies for the cleaning and repairing of moving foils and detection and prevention of defects in large roll to roll production of OLED's and OPV's.

DuPont Teijin Films are leading the prevention aspect of the project and some exciting progress has already been made by proving the suitability of a new ultra clean PET product. Samples of early trials made on the DTF Semi-Technical production line located at the Global R&D and Innovation Centre in North East England, have shown a promising barrier performance due to intrinsic cleanliness - the first step of the OLED/OPV process.

Meanwhile investigations are underway into the development of methods for transporting substrates through further steps in the process thereby preventing contamination or surface damage. Other work streams are making progress towards the on-line detection of sub micron contamination, understanding adhesion forces at play between contamination and process surfaces and the repair technologies for damaged tracing.

We are looking forward to the next meeting of the consortium with all partners which will be held in November this year at DuPont Teijin Films Wilton site on Teesside.
